Computers

9 Desktop computers equipped with the latest Windows operating system are available on the upper level of the library. MacID login is required.

Saving Files

Files can be saved to personal cloud space, e.g., OneDrive or to a personal device, e.g., USB drive.

Can I run a program from a CD or DVD?

To open files from a CD or DVD, first open the appropriate application (e.g. Windows Media Player, QuickTime, etc.).  Select File >> Open and select your file from the CD/DVD drive.

Installing new programs/applications on library computers is not permitted.

Print, Scan, Copy

The Health Sciences Library provides access to printers, copiers and scanners using the campus-wide networked PrintSmart system.

Device Locations

  • Upper Level – Learning Commons – 1 printer
  • Reserve Reading Room – 1 printer/copier/scanner
  • Lower Level – 1 printer/copier/scanner

Visit PrintSmart to make sure you are following the instructions correctly. If the problem persists, submit the Report a Problem form to PrintSmart.

Charging Stations

The Health Sciences Library provides access to 6 self-serve charging lockers. Charging stations are located beside the print station on the upper level of the library.

Using Charging Stations

  • Lockers are available for use during regular opening hours.
  • The charging lockers are available free of charge to all library users.
  • You can access your locker at any time during the charging process.
  • Lockers are for personal electronic devices only. All other items are prohibited.
  • The library is not responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen items caused by using the charging station.
  • Be aware of the library’s charging station regulations prior to use.
  • Follow the instructions on the screen to charge devices.
  • Each locker comes with:
    • Apple Lightning Cable (MFI)
    • USB-C Cable
    • MicroUSB Cable

What happens if I forget my code?

Fill out the Charging Station Problem form at the library Service Desk. Mobile devices will only be retrieved Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by authorized library staff. Users must be present when devices are retrieved.

What happens if I forget my device in the charging station?

Devices left in the charging stations for more than one business day will be turned over to Hamilton Health Sciences Security.
