Borrowing a Projector - FAQs

Who can borrow the data projector?

All McMaster students with a valid McMaster ID card may borrow the data projector from the Circulation Desk in the Health Sciences Library. You will be asked to read and sign the Data Projector Borrower Agreement before borrowing the data projector.

From the Circulation Desk in the Health Sciences Library.

What is the loan period?

The data projector can be borrowed for a period of 3 hours and cannot be removed from the library. The projector must be returned by the time due or 1 hour before Library closing time, whichever is sooner (NO exceptions).

The projector will be loaned on a first-come, first-served basis or it can be reserved up to one week in advance by students enrolled in the Faculty of Health Sciences education programs. A valid Faculty of Health Sciences photo ID card indicating program of study must be presented with a valid student ID card at the time of the booking. Reservations can only be made in person at the Circulation Desk. No telephone or online reservations will be accepted.

The projector cannot be renewed.

Fines for late returns are $20 per hour to a maximum of $250 per day. Data projectors not returned by the end of the day will be considered lost and you will be billed for the replacement cost of $1500 plus a non-refundable administration fee of $25.

What are the technical requirements of the data projector?

  • Laptop - with VGA output
  • VGA Projector Cable (provided)
  • Power Cord
What comes with the data projector?

The data projector will come in a carrying case with a projector cable and a power cord.

Who is responsible for theft or damage to the data projector?

You are! Please do not leave the data projector unattended at any time. You are responsible for the full repair or replacement cost of up to $1500 for the projector signed out to you. By signing the Data Projector Borrower Agreement, you acknowledge fiscal responsibility for the projector you have checked out. If any pieces accompanying the projector are not returned (e.g. the power cord) you will be charged the cost of replacing the item(s) plus a $25 non-refundable administration fee.

Where else on campus can I borrow a data projector or book a projector?

What if I need help?

The expectation is that you will be self-directed in using the projector and are familiar with laptops and perpherials.

For technical assistance or hardware problems, questions should be directed to the Health Sciences Library systems support.
