The 2013 FHS Research Plenary poster session is taking place in the Health Sciences Library’s Jan and Mien Heersink Reading Pavilion May 14-16. This open forum event will showcase the diversity of research currently underway across the health sciences. Sessions run:

May 14 -10am-12pm

May 15 – 10am-12pm and 1:30-3:30pm

May 16 – 10am-12pm

Please join us as we celebrate the research achievements of our Faculty’s graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

Spring hours begin May 1st!

The Health Sciences Library will begin spring hours on Wed. May 1, 2013. Here is the link to our spring hours.

Due to electrical repairs in the Health Sciences Centre the power will be shutdown in parts of the building on Saturday April 27th. As a result the Health Sciences Library will be closed .

Our online resources will continue to be available through our website.

Cochrane Library will be unavailable for 12 hours on weekend of April 13th/14th

“We are contacting you to provide you with advanced warning of some planned maintenance and downtime that will affect … The Cochrane Library. The websites will be unavailable for no more than 12 hours starting at 9pm London time / 4pm New York time on Saturday 13th April 2013. During this time, due to the nature of the work we cannot show a maintenance note so anyone trying to access the site will get a “Site not found” or similar message.”

New books in our popular reading area, rare book room, and more

My Leaky Body: Tales from the Gurney, by Julie Devaney

Since our last new books update, we’ve acquired new books in our Popular Reading collection such as The Healing Presence of Art: A History of Western Art in Hospitals and My Leaky Body: Tales from the Gurney.

Some new books with a clinical focus for students and faculty include: Clinical Nursing Skills: Basic to Advanced Skills and Clinically Oriented Anatomy.

Also new to our collection, but not to the world, include some new titles in our Rare Book Room such as A Clinical Guide in Medicine, published in 1938 and a book about birth control published in 1922, Woman and the New Race.
