Theses

Very few libraries will lend theses and dissertations. Copies of many North American PhD dissertations can be purchased directly through Dissertation Express .

Copies of Masters theses from Canadian universities can sometimes be borrowed (and at other times, purchased) from the university library involved. Costs vary widely, according to supplier and format of reproduction.

Many Canadian theses -- both Masters and PhD's -- are now available online at the Theses Canada Portal for free online viewing, or for purchase when not free. McMaster University theses and dissertations are accessible online to the McMaster community free of charge through the ProQuest dissertations and theses web site or through the Theses Canada Portal.

The full text of dissertations identified in CINAHL (the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) is often available online free-of-charge through the ProQuest Nursing Subset. Please ask for assistance at the Information Desk when you wish to access these dissertations.
