Resources & Services 'In the Library'
In addition to the books, journals and reference material in the Health Sciences Library, the following resources and services are also available.
Computers & Equipment
Computers, printers, photocopiers can all be found in the library. Desktop computers with Internet are available on both the upper and lower levels of the library. Printers, and photocopiers can also be accessed from upstairs and downstairs. Projectors and laptops are available for lending.
Study Space
The library has designated study zones for group study, quiet study and silent study. Group study rooms are also available for booking.
Information Desk
The Information Desk provides direction from knowledgeable library staff about locations of material held in campus libraries, answers to questions about our holdings, advice about where to begin your searching and how to proceed, and quick assistance with searches.
Instruction Classes
The Health Sciences Library conducts instruction classes in the e-classroom, on topics such as basic research skills, Refworks, searching Pubmed, and more.
Borrowing Laptops
The library offers laptops for loan to be used within the library.
Wireless
Wireless is available throughout the library, by using Maconnect.
Archives & Records Management Program
The Archives is located in the lower level of the Health Sciences Library and was established in 1974 to collect and preserve for research purposes the historically important documents of Hamilton Health Sciences and the Faculty of Health Sciences.
History of Health & Medicine
The History of Health and Medicine Collection is held on the lower level of the Health Sciences Library. It supports undergraduate teaching in the history of health and medicine (both in the Faculty of Health Sciences and across the University generally) and it provides an invaluable resource for advanced scholarship conducted by Faculty, Visiting Scholars, and graduate students.
